Palestinia to approach UN for membership

·         It will request for recognition with pre 1967 borders

·         US has said it will veto it

·         UNSC approval is reqrd for full membership

·         But observer state can be attained with support of 193 member UNGA

o   140 nations support it including india

Advantages of being obsever state

·         Setup a mission at UN

·         Can file cases in ICC and ICJ

·         Can joins some UN bodies
